Thread: Development Updates, Version Renumbering, Mac Progress and More...

It's been a little quiet around Wootalyzer this holiday season, but let's face it - these "family" things take up a lot of our time.

Regardless, version 3.054, the next version for Windows, is coming along nicely. (Yes, that says 3.054, we are getting rid of one of the decimal points in the version number). There are lots and lots of fixes coming up, along with some feature enhancements. There might even be some beta versions floating around somewhere on our forums.

Here's just a list of what we have completed so far:

    Fixes included in 3.0542 -
    Fixed tray icon clearing glitch
Fixed loss of "always on top" window status
Fixed flickering at beginning of popups
    Removed Woot-Off Theme
    Cleaned up thread code
Removed Email/SMS functionality (now available on website)
Fixed side start menu location causing missing popup alerts
New option to start minimized on Windows start
Window position, viewmode, and number of trackers are now saved - The selection of each tracker is NOT
    Rescripted the installer
Installer shuts down woot.exe correctly now
Fixed components not being fully drawn after launch
    Added portable mode
Moved viewmode controls onto the root view menu
    Removed "under $___" alert option
Added one extra line to the title field of item popups
Added checkmark next to selected view mode
Added option to temporarily disable popups
Deal menu categorization is now on by default and not disablable
Fixed glitch causing program to crash if a site was added while the settings dialog was open
Changed EXE description from "Deal-A-Day Tracker" to "Wootalyzer"
Added new image for "No Image"
Moved images and media into dedicated directories
Moved checkin to seperate thread from refresh loop
Reworked update system (updates are now optional unless protocol changes)
    Moved changelog location
Always on Top status is restored when restoring from tray
Alarm is stopped if View Item or Buy Item is clicked
Alert Settings system was reworked - A "Default Profile" now exists
In other news, progress on a mac version is sluggish, to say the least. The project is moving along, but it may be a little while before a public version is available. We can't give an ETA, because knowing our luck, we may hit a dead end and have to start over. You never know.

Here is the order that we plan on working on future versions:
    Mac
    iPhone
    WM6

Happy Holidays, and good luck hunting down those great deals!

These updates look promising, esp the "on top" setting fix.
Hope to see a BlackBerry OS app someday. Could even be just a desktop link to an online tracker. Or an interface for email alert settings, since email is the BB forte.

Would someone here please help me? The previous version worked just fine, however the latest (3.54.10) refuses to connect -- just sits there, then reports a connection problem.
I've tried to go back to a previous version, but it won't let me.

    I'm running Win XP.

I would be grateful for any help!

Mirror 1 was down for a little while earlier, causing mirror connection issues (unrelated to the update issues later on). This should not be happening any more, but please post back if you are still having this issue.

    Still having same issue:
Core Status is "Connection Error - CURL Error 6"
Mirror Status is "Fetching..." (and it stays that way)

    I have proxy support disabled.

So the new update isn't working as well.
Maybe it is related to the server issues?

This morning as I watch my wootalyzer and jtv's webcast wootalyzer, my wootalyzer is about 2 minutes behind the other tracker. Just now a "new" item appeared, but wootalyzer showed an older item (the Philips SoundBar DVD Home Theater) and then opened a new brower window showing the eMachine (which was the correct item).

    Something's up.

Okay, so I think the problem might be with Win7.
When I try to run Wootalyzer on my Win7 system, I get serious lag (where it will be at least 2 items behind everyone else). It will have spurts where it catches up with everyone else, but then goes back to not updating. On my laptop that has Vista on it (hey, didn't have a choice) Wootalyzer works as expected. I don't think it is a Wootalyzer problem.

I am still having the same issue.
Is there no way I can go back to the old version???@!!!!

The new version is not the cause of all these lag problems. The lag is being caused by the load and stress of all the users online from the woot-off. The new feed server should smooth out a lot of the issues, but downgrading certainly would not. (The old version no longer even functions on the new protocol).
